The Hotel St. Francis is has completed an exciting renovation and is the newest cultural
hotel to be offered by Heritage Hotels & Resorts ®. With recognition as a historic building listed on the National
Register of Historic Places and Historic Hotels of America the hotel has offered a wealth of history throughout
its existence. Hotel St. Francis has also earned the prestigious status as a Summit Hotel, a Preferred Hotel
Group® partner.
Design Concept: In Simplicity there is Complexity
Inspired by the name of the hotel (named for the patron saint of Santa Fe) and the early presence of the
Franciscan missionaries in New Mexico, the Hotel St. Francis will be designed in a style where peace and tranquility
are the key underlying elements of the hotel design. Utter simplicity is an exacting art. Earth, light and water are the recurring design features throughout the hotel. The hotel has a historical appearance reflecting
the simple and spiritual style of the Franciscan Missionary Order. The purity of this style
allows hotel guests to unwind from their busy lives and enjoy a moment of relaxation and calmness. The Hotel St.
Francis will become a refuge that leaves a lasting impression upon ones mind, heart, and soul and provides a moment
for reflection and contemplation.
Visitors entering the hotel lobby will first notice flickering candlelight surrounding a large stone baptismal font
set upon hand cut stone floors. Simply designed leather and wood furniture will add comfort and style to the space.
Guestrooms will be a reflection of the theme of the hotel with an emphasis on simple pared down beauty. Walls, drapery,
and bedding will be white in color. A simple woolen blanket will be placed at the end of the bed. The carpets are
inspired by the natural shades of wool from the churro sheep brought by the Spanish missionaries to the New Mexico.
Furniture will be paragons of purity and simplicity and will be inspired by furniture located in the collection of the
Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe.
The dining experience at Hotel St. Francis will be unpretentious. All food served at the hotel is fresh,
organic, local and seasonal. Seasonal
offerings are included in the menus throughout the year. Everything will be made from hand and will be of the purest
ingredients and traditional methods. Menu items will utilize the highest quality ingredients available but will be of simple design
allowing the full flavor of ingredients to be enjoyed. A seasonal patio is featured and offers an opportunity for alfresco dining. A simple stone fountain adorns the
patio as well. In the evening dozens of candles set in glass votives mounted to candle holders attached to the walls
will provide illumination.
Soon to come within the heart of the hotel will be a soaking room and core exercise room designed for complete relaxation. A large
soaking tub, abundant candles, scents and soft music provide a perfect place to unwind.
In a world where our minds are often cluttered with the vast amount of information, technology, and complexity the Hotel
St. Francis will be a place of contrast. Through simplicity and naturalness a deeper complexity will be achieved. Hotel
guests receive a respite from their busy daily lives and achieve a moment of tranquility and peacefulness.
